Do you need to temporarily work or visit the USA? Then you need a USA visa which is generally a stamp inside the traveler’s passport issued by his/her country of citizenship.
But it is also important to note that acquiring a USA visa is not a guarantee of entry in the USA as the Department of Homeland Security may determine that you are not eligible to enter the USA for various reasons such as terrorism, similarly some individuals wishing to enter the US temporarily may not require a USA visa at all.
Types of USA Visas.
There are basically two types of USA visas including; nonimmigrant and immigrant visa types. Immigrant visa type allows people to enter, live and work permanently in the US soil while nonimmigrant visa type allows people to temporarily visit and work within the USA territory for tourism or business purposes.
Under these two categories there are other visa types such as the B-1 Business Visitor visa which allows entry in the USA for business purposes only, the K1 Fiancé visa which permits a traveler to enter the US for purposes of marrying a USA citizen, finally we have the B-1 and B-2 Visitor visa which permits entry in the USA for tourism or medical reasons.
Different types of USA visas have different waiting periods and in some cases, there is a limit to the number of visas issued per year. So it is important in advance before your planned travel time to avoid any inconveniences.
Visa application requires filing documentation, completing the necessary forms, paying the required amount of fee and sometimes interviews and fingerprinting at the USA embassy or consulate are required. You can also apply online using the USA ESTA visa.
It is of importance to ensure that you have filed for the correct visa in the correct manner to avoid any unnecessary delays.
